Itinerary

In our Tour of the British Museum in London we will take you to discover, with a professional guide in English, some of the pieces of the cultures that have populated our planet. The Egyptians, the Greeks and the Aztecs, among others, are well represented here.

Our tour of one of the most visited museums in the world will begin on the outside, at the entrance of the building, so that we can appreciate the details of its infrastructure. Here it will be inevitable to notice its resemblance to some constructions of Classical Greece, such as the Parthenon in Athens, which will give us a clue as to what we will find inside.

After learning about the history of the building, we will continue through the Central Hall to reach the Hall of Enlightenment, the largest and oldest of the museum, which houses a collection of some 65,000 volumes from the library of King George III, as well as other collections of private origin.

Next, we will see in detail what the culture of Ancient Egypt was like, one of the most advanced in the world at the time. Here we will not miss the funerary rites that were performed at that time, nor the various sculptures that represented their gods, pharaohs or prominent figures, nor the construction of the famous pyramids.

The tour will continue with a look at the Assyrian civilization, which occupied the north of ancient Mesopotamia. The British Museum is filled with pieces that come from this region, such as the Lamassus, which protected the gates of the cities or palaces of the empire.

Our next stop will be to see the great historical legacy of Greek culture. Here we will see one of the jewels of the museum: a collection of 15 panels and 17 marble sculptures that were part of the original decoration of the Parthenon, built some 2,500 years ago in honor of the goddess Athena. Did you know that the Parthenon was originally full of color?

We will end our visit by discovering various Aztec and other Mesoamerican artifacts, including Hoa Hakananai'a, a moai over two meters high made of fine basalt that was built on Rapa Nui or Easter Island. At the end, our guide will be able to give you recommendations and tips on other interesting museums to see in London.
