Itinerary
The essential Porto walking tour will take you to its most iconic buildings and places whilst you discover more about the origins of Portugal. You will learn why Porto's historic center was declared a World Heritage Site and have time to enjoy the beautiful views of the city.
You will start the tour at the Torre Dos Clérigos, a 76-meter high baroque building, which was completed in 1748 and, together with the church, is one of the most important emblems of Porto. You will continue to the Victoria viewpoint, to enjoy breathtaking views of the Douro, its bridges and the architecture of the city, while listening to stories about the famous Porto wine and other interesting facts.
Then, you will walk to Livraria Lello, considered the most beautiful bookstore in the world which is believed to have inspired the writer J.K. Rowling for the Harry Potter saga.
The tour will continue to Porto Prison, a 16th century building with a dark and surprising past. From there, you will go to the São Bento Station, one of the most beautiful train stations in Europe and noted for its tile-covered walls that tell the history of Portugal.
You will finish at Porto Cathedral, built in the 12th century in the highest part of the city, next to the walls.
