Itinerary
We will start this 2-hour tour at the square of Henry the Navigator, also known as the Infante of Sagres. You will see his birthplace and learn about this key historical figure in the age of discovery in Portugal.
You will also appreciate the Stock Exchange Palace (Palacio da Bolsa), one of the most important buildings in Porto, located in the same square.
We’ll continue towards the Church of São Francisco, considered one of the most beautiful churches in Portugal, to understand the religious character of the Portuguese people.
We will go to Ribeira and Barredo, the two oldest neighborhoods of Porto to learn more about the medieval city, its bridges, walls and some legends; passing by emblematic sites such as the Casa Do Infante, a medieval building from 1394.
Then, we will cross by taxi-boat to the other bank of the Douro: Vila Nova de Gaia, and so we will arrive at the Monastery of Nossa Senhora da Serra do Pilar, built in the 17th century and declared a World Heritage Site.
From there you will witness the most beautiful views of the Douro. In Vila Nova de Gaia you will see a lot of urban art, including the famous Half Rabbit and Pastel's work, which contrast with more traditional buildings such as the Corpus Christi convent, founded in 1345.
The tour will end with a visit to a small winery to learn more about the famous Port wine.
At the end of the tour you will have the best recommendations to continue exploring Porto. The best places to eat and go out at night, where to watch the sunset and all the questions you may have.
