Itinerary
The tour starts at Largo Amor de Perdição, in front of the Portuguese Centre of Photography, where your guide will welcome the group. From here we set off towards Cordoaria Garden, a green space that offers a perfect breath of fresh air before diving into the city's history.
Just a short walk away stands the legendary Lello Bookshop, considered one of the most beautiful in the world and full of stories worth telling. We then continue through Praça Gomes Teixeira to the impressive University of Porto, whose history is wrapped in legends that stretch all the way to the pages of Harry Potter.
The tour moves on to the Twin Churches and the striking contrast between the austere Court of Justice and the former Porto Prison, three stops that reveal centuries of urban life. Shortly after, the silhouette of the Clérigos Tower (the tallest bell tower in Portugal) guides the way towards the old Jewish Quarter, one of the most historically layered neighbourhoods in the city centre.
The route then climbs to the Vitória Viewpoint, where panoramic views over the terracotta rooftops and the Douro River make the walk worthwhile on their own. The final highlights are the Church of São Bento da Vitória and the stunning São Bento Railway Station — decorated with over 20,000 hand-painted tiles depicting the history of Portugal — followed by the majestic Porto Cathedral, which has watched over the city from its hilltop for centuries.
