Porto Historical Center
After meeting your guide and checking in at Rua Mouzinho da Silveira, opposite São Bento Railway Station, the tour will first take you to the Cathedral of Porto, one of Portugal’s most important landmarks. The 12th century cathedral was declared a National monument due to its architectural, religious and historic value.
Next, we’ll head to Clérigos Tower, one of Porto’s most renowned symbols. This baroque church was constructed during the 18th century and its beloved 75 meter high tower can be spotted from many parts of the city. The views of Porto from the church are quite stunning.
Not far from the tower you will find the world famous Lello Bookshop (entrance not included). Considered one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, it is known for inspiring J.K. Rowling when creating the Harry Potter stories. Another highlight of this tour is the iconic São Bento Station, famous for representing the history of Portugal through the use of traditional portuguese tiles.
Wine Cellar visit and tasting - Lunch
The tour then moves to one of Porto’s famous wine cellars, where you will learn about the winemaking process of port wine, a system that has been perfected for centuries. Enjoy a Port Wine tasting and start savoring one of Porto’s most traditional offerings.
Get ready to enjoy a traditional Francesinha lunch in the heart of Porto, the Ribeira neighborhood, with incredible views of the Douro river. This traditional Portuguese sandwich is made of thick slices of white loaf bread with ham, sausage, cheese, and steak, topped with abundant melted cheese and served with French fries.
It’s one of the most typical meals in Porto and you definitely shouldn't leave without trying one! Of course, there are also options for vegetarians.
Six Bridges Cruise and Modern Porto
After lunch you’ll have the opportunity to see Porto from a different perspective aboard the traditional Six Bridges Tour (another must do activity in Porto).
The 50-minute cruise offers panoramic views of the most breathtaking sites of the Porto riverbank and some of the city’s monuments, like the Bolsa Palace, Porto’s Wine Museum and the Monastery of Serra do Pilar, as well as some of the most iconic bridges, like the María Pía railway bridge, designed in 1877 by famed Eiffel Tower architect Gustave Eiffel.
In the last part of the tour you will witness some of the most modern areas of Porto, like Boavista and Foz do Douro. Enjoy panoramic sights of Casa da Música, the main and most modern concert hall in the city, as well as the Serralves Foundation.
Last but not least, we’ll head to one of the most exclusive areas of Porto: Foz do Douro, a neighborhood featuring gorgeous villas overlooking the sea. We’ll take a final look at famous Fort of São Francisco do Queijo, also known as the "Cheese Castle".
