Best of Porto Half Day Tour

After checking in at Rua Mouzinho da Silveira, opposite São Bento Railway Station, our tour will head towards Sé neighborhood, one of the main areas in the upper part of Porto, location of the Porto Cathedral, our first stop.

The Sé de Porto is one of Porto’s biggest symbols and the episcopal seat of Portugal, making it even more important than the Lisbon Cathedral. Its construction began in the 12th century and was declared a National Monument due to its rich architectural and historical value. The views of Porto from the church are unforgettable.

We’ll approach another iconic Porto landmark: the world famous Lello Bookshop (entrance not included). This gorgeous bookstore (considered one of the most beautiful and original in the world) inspired J.K. Rowling in the creation of the Harry Potter books.

We will continue to Aliados Avenue, along with Praça da Liberdade, one of the most representative sights of Porto 's historical center. Witness the stunning details of Art Nouveau and Art Deco façades. Another highlight will be the São Bento Railway Station, without a doubt, the most beautiful train station in Portugal. Its impressive atrium is decorated by thousands of Portuguese tiles which illustrate scenes of important moments in Portuguese history. A must-see wonder.

Next, we’ll head over to Vila Nova de Gaia across the D. Luís I Bridge, which was built by one of the disciples of Gustav Eiffel. This area of Porto is known by its Port Wine Cellars and you will enjoy the opportunity to visit one of the finest wineries in the city to learn about the winemaking process perfected through centuries in the Douro Valley. The visit includes a Port Wine tasting, where you will learn to savor and recognize the hints and nuances of this world-wide famous wine.
