The essential Salamanca Free Walking Tour

Salamanca is one of the most interesting and beautiful destinations in Spain and you can discover all of its charm in this free tour of approximately 1 hour and a half. Its stunning Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its remarkable Plateresque-style buildings and its University is the oldest active university in Spain and one of the oldest in the world.

This essential free tour starts at Plaza de Anaya, where you will learn about the origins of the remarkable University of Salamanca. Founded in 1218, it was the first in Europe to hold the official title of university by royal decree and one of Spain’s most prestigious institutions.

We’ll continue strolling to the New and Old Cathedral, you’ll get a great view of the Roman Bridge, as well as some of the historical buildings of the University like the Minor Schools Yard, the Major Schools Facade and Pontifical University (Clerecía). Your guide will make sure you spot the "easter eggs" that are hidden in Salamanca. One hint: one of the most famous ones includes a frog and a skull.

On the second half of the tour we’ll pass through the iconic House of Shells before visiting Salamanca’s most emblematic spot: the magnificent Main Square (Plaza Mayor). By the end of this tour, you will have discovered every corner of the historical center of the Old City.

How much does this free tour cost?

The free tours do not have a fixed price, you set the price yourself. At the end of the tour, each participant will pay the fair amount according to the degree of satisfaction received. 

You will be in the company of Official Tourism Guides who are passionate about Salamanca and will do their best to make your experience different, enjoyable and entertaining. 

• It is recommended to wear suitable clothing and footwear for walking and adapted to the weather conditions. We walk rain or shine
• Suitable for people with reduced mobility.
• Minimum number of participants: if there are less than 4 reserved places, the tour can be canceled, notifying in advance.
• Electronic or credit card payment is accepted.

• Bookings of more than 6 adults not admitted. In case more than 6 people from the same group arrive but with different reservations, the guide has the right to not accept those reservations in the group. 
• In case you want to attend, the payment of the members of that group will be €7.5 per adult. (Under 14 years old, free).
• Please turn up at the meeting point at least 5-10 minutes early.
