Itinerary
During the Spanish “Golden Age,” Seville was the crown jewel of the empire, a bustling hub of wealth and culture. Its old town, the largest in Spain and one of the most significant in Europe, is packed with history, charm, and incredible monuments. This 2-hour free tour is designed to help you connect with the city’s soul.
We’ll start by meeting your friendly guide, who will warmly introduce you to Seville’s colorful past, from its Roman beginnings as Hispalis to its prominence as the Almohad capital of al-Andalus.
Your adventure begins at Seville’s City Hall before heading to La Giralda, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, once the tallest tower in Spain, is a beautiful blend of Almohad and Christian architecture.
Next, we’ll wander to Plaza Virgen de los Reyes, where you’ll get a closer look at La Giralda and learn about the Cathedral of Seville, a masterpiece recognized as the largest cathedral in the world.
The tour continues to the Real Alcázar, a breathtaking palace complex still used by Spanish royalty. Nearby, you’ll see the exterior of the Archivo de Indias, home to an extraordinary collection of 80 million documents, maps, and drawings that bring the history of Spain’s overseas territories to life.
From there, we’ll head to Puerta de Jerez and the iconic Torre del Oro, a historic defensive tower perched along the Guadalquivir River. As we near the end of our journey, we’ll stop by the elegant Hotel Alfonso XIII and the Royal Tobacco Factory, the first tobacco factory in Europe and a site rich in stories.
Finally, we’ll arrive at the grand Plaza de España, a stunning landmark built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. By the end of this 2-hour tour, you’ll have a deeper appreciation of Seville’s history, architecture, and culture. Your guide will also be happy to share tips on other places to explore in the city.
